"feelings are just feelings, they aren't always reality"

"Many people think that a suicide attempt is a selfish move because the person just does not care about the people left behind. I can tell you that when a person gets to that point, they truly believe that their loved ones will be much better off with them gone. This is mental illness not selfishness. TRUTH: Depression is a terrible disease and seems relentless. A lot of us have been close to that edge, or dealt with family members in a crisis, and some have lost friends and loved ones. Let's look out for each other and stop sweeping mental illness under the rug. If I don't see your name, I'll understand...."
The above is a post going around prompting people to share it on their wall. It's great awareness, but let's not justify suicide as a rational response to dealing with mental illness no matter the severity. Yes, let's be understanding and compassionate to those who are feeling this way but I have lost too many mates from this avoidable situation and nearly checked out myself. We need to challenge the messages we are sending. And we need to do it with care and love.
It's true that we do feel that the world will be better off without us, but feelings are just feelings, they aren't always reality. It is selfish to have the knowledge on how to improve your life but to not do the work and just give in and give up, and be a victim. The struggle to get better is brutal. It's sickening and goes against everything your mind and body is telling you. Sometimes for many years. It's a daily sacrifice to stay healthy of spirit, body and mind and you will fail relentlessly before you learn what it takes to survive and thrive. People will enable you. They will feel sorry for you. If this is what you need then embrace it, but don't live in the victim bubble it will grow on you.

If the work sounds hard think about the alternative if you do not do the work! We do not enable victims here, we save lives here. We are not psychologists waiting to wrap you in cotton wool, we are real people who have learned to live a life with mental health conditions every day and have positive lives again.
We get irrational paranoid, have days of debilitating anxiety, depression that feels like it will never end, but we don't sit in the problem we work on solutions, every day, not matter what! And it's serious work. Confusing and scary and fucking hard but you are valuable and you worth it and the best of your life is yet to come if you embrace it. We want you to rebuild emotional resilience and regain control of your life. We have been victims of mental illness and we now picture it as just another challenge we are willing to take on. Never a victim, always a victor.
Please stay with us. You are needed, wanted, and appreciated.

You can’t forgive yourself for falling
or believing all the lies.
You reread every text.
You relive every memory.
